The distinguished UK star Dame Helen, already winner of an Oscar statuette, multiple Bafta awards, Golden Globe wins, five Emmys, plus a Tony, is poised to add another major award to her trophy case: the Cecil B DeMille Globes' lifetime honor.

Honors Presentation

Mirren, 80, who was honored as a dame during 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow in the year 2014, will accept the award during a presentation on the eighth of January, just prior to the main Golden Globes are held, as part of an event billed by the organization as Golden Eve.

Additionally featuring the presentation of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for TV work, the honoree for which remains unannounced. The prior year’s honorees featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Dame Helen represents a powerhouse performer, with a career is nothing short of extraordinary,” said Helen Hoehne, the Globes’ leader. “Her captivating roles and commitment to her craft continue to inspire generations of artists and fans too. It’s a tremendous privilege to bestow upon her the DeMille prize.”

Career Highlights

Mirren gained prominence during the seventies with key roles in theater in the West End of London and with the RSC and in films including O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her prominent part in the investigative show Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase further. Other important films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She won an Oscar for her portrayal as Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 movie The Queen, a character she reprised in 2013 within The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan about the meetings involving the monarch and the PM the former PM, a performance for which she received a Tony Award during 2015.

Recent and Upcoming Projects

• Subsequent cinematic works feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, where she served as narrator.
• Her role in the Netflix version for The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised with award talk is building about her portrayal as a terminally ill matriarch in Kate Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
• Upcoming, Mirren will be seen portraying Patricia Highsmith in Anton Corbijn’s drama, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nominations are set to be revealed on 8 December, with Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
