Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The latest action-packed title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for delighting in action and mayhem with the same enthusiasm, all while presenting gripping, politically driven tales. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two visionaries whose creations have embodied all of those things.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' structure by introducing a fresh location and ensemble in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a take of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of society through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and bring our mutual bold, daring style to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
