Over 36,000 civilians have evacuated from Sudan's Kordofan territory eastern sector of Darfur starting Saturday, as stated by the UN's migration agency.

The key central region separating the country's Darfur regions and the Khartoum-Riverine region has during recent weeks become the latest battleground in the extended civil war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary forces.

Substantial Evacuation Numbers

An estimated 36,825 people escaped five localities in North Kordofan region between 26 October and 31 October, as reported by the International Organization for Migration.

The civilians, most on foot, headed to Tawila, a town to the west of El Fasher that is currently accommodating more than 652,000 displaced people.

Escalated Military Presence

Citizens of North Kordofan on Monday reported a heavy surge in both RSF and army presence across communities throughout the state.

Both forces are contesting control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan regional capital and a important strategic and command center that links Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have assembled at the Bara front here," stated an RSF member in a recently distributed video statement.

Local Residents Describe Security Concerns

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, described that the number of RSF vehicles had grown substantially since the group's takeover of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, afraid of clashes," the individual commented.

Another resident, who requested anonymity for protection purposes, also confirmed that "there has been a significant rise in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the last fourteen days.

Global Alarms and Requests

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "large-scale atrocities" and "race-driven revenge attacks" by RSF in Bara.

The official alerted to patterns comparable to patterns in Darfur, where RSF combatants have been alleged to commit mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against non-Arab ethnic groups.

The religious leader on Sunday urged an prompt truce and the creation of humanitarian corridors in Sudan, saying that attacks on civilians and obstacles to humanitarian aid "are creating unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's diplomatic representative to Egypt on Sunday alleged RSF of carrying out war crimes in El Fasher and announced that the Sudanese government would not negotiate with the militia organization.

The diplomat further called on the world nations to classify the group as a terrorist entity.
