Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande during Film Launch Banned from Singapore
A man from Australia who vaulted over a barricade and touched actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and barred from Singapore.
The individual, aged 26, was sentenced to more than a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the country's border control informed Singaporean press.
He forced his way past photographers and approached aggressively the actress and singer, who was present at the regional launch for Wicked: For Good on the thirteenth of November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
Wen has a history of interrupting performances and star-studded occasions, including rushing the stage at the pop star's Australian show in this summer.
The incident sparked outrage in Singapore, with many saying he of causing further distress to the star.
The singer has mentioned dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her show in Manchester in spring of 2017 killed 22 individuals and affected hundreds.
Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had tried to gain access on the movie's debut multiple times, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Protection personnel intercepted him and pinned him down.
Wen later posted video clips expressing gratitude to the star for letting him on the carpet and said he was "free."
Law enforcement took him into custody the subsequent day and brought charges against him with public nuisance, to which he confessed.
The District Judge the judicial official was referenced by media reports as remarking that he was looking for publicity, commenting that he was incorrect to assume he would not experience repercussions.
Grande has not commented on the situation.
Erivo spoke about the incident to NBC, stating that she "simply desired to ensure my colleague was protected."
"I think he didn't mean us danger, but you cannot be certain with those things, and I aimed to confirm that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she said.
