Stateside actor Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved TV shows including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - only friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a announcement.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a party host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous popular shows, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight series over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Beyond his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired countless students during his career and it's nearly impossible to find someone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, peer Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared online.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
