Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his position after another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received significant backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with outcomes like these.”

He stated, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
