The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as pardoning holiday birds, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the onset of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a first responder, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the character of Miami: joyful, varied, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Each year, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
