The United Kingdom Set to Employ Immobilized Russian Assets to Finance the Ukrainian Defense
The United Kingdom is ready to advance with utilizing the entire amount of immobilized Russian assets to support the Ukrainian defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.
In a collective announcement, the officials of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this unified step would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to participate in talks.
They added that the move would be implemented in close cooperation with the US.
UK sanctions have immobilized more than £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow launched its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. However, previously, funds provided to the Ukrainian government using Russian funds had only been sourced from profits and interest generated on them.
Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their aim to advance efforts toward employing the total worth of the seized Moscow's national assets to halt hostilities.
He stated that additional restrictions over the next period would heighten the tension on Russia.
This statement comes after European representatives met in the Danish capital previously to consider utilizing seized Russian holdings for a €140 billion credit to the Ukrainian nation.
Recently, President Donald Trump urged international partners to confiscate or otherwise use seized Russia's funds, according to media sources.
The total of immobilized Russia's holdings in the Europe is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

Moscow carried out extensive bombardments across Ukraine on recently, resulting in electricity outages in significant regions of Kyiv, Kyiv, and several other zones.
A pair of individuals were lost their lives and at least 20 people were hurt in the attack, Ukrainian officials stated.
In a post on social media subsequent to the attack, Zelensky commented that the cynical and calculated attack targeted non-military and power facilities.
"The necessity is not just talk but decisive action - from the America, the European Union, and the Group of Seven - in providing defense mechanisms and implementing penalties," he wrote.
"Every sanction decision diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.
Also on Friday, Zelensky stated to the press he would encourage Sir Keir to enter the weapons procurement program, under which partner nations purchase weapons from the United States to give to Ukraine.
While commending the United Kingdom's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the system, as well as enforce further restrictions on Moscow.
