Approximately 55,000 homes have so far been affected by the rains, with their items and shelters destroyed.

Persistent precipitation over the past week have intensified the already dire living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated Palestinians in the territory, as reported by humanitarian groups.

"Terrible" Night Poses Serious Risks

A spokesman characterized the weather overnight as "terrible", with precipitation so severe that around 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the ground.

"The recent weather was really difficult for the families. The storms were so intense... And the gusts were so powerful," stated the representative.

There is grave worry that children residing in tents in soaked clothing will contract hypothermia and other ailments.

Casualties and Significant Loss

The health ministry have reported that one baby has succumbed from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins due to the harsh conditions.

Other reports suggest a higher fatality count. Officials stated that numerous homes had collapsed completely and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

  • Roughly 55,000 families impacted by the weather.
  • More than 40 official shelters severely flooded.
  • Numerous individuals required to relocate again.

Relief Distribution Considered Inadequate

Agencies have escalated deliveries of shelter, warm covers and garments since the truce commenced, but they stress there is still not enough aid entering.

"Agencies are striving constantly to provide that assistance and to distribute it, but the size of the necessities is so vast that we still have thousands of individuals and children who are truly struggling each evening," stated one spokesperson.

Future Issues and Agreement Terms

The subsequent part of the agreement encompasses proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of military forces, and other conditions.

Aid organizations have underscored the necessity for "increased and sustained relief to respond to urgent and ongoing requirements."

The hostilities was sparked by an offensive in October 2023. Subsequent campaigns have caused a high number of casualties in the area, based on medical figures.
